Kelsey Lewis and
Jessica Fey each recorded 11 kills as Washburn won in three, 25-9, 25-21, 25-22 Friday night at Pittsburg State. The third-ranked Lady Blues won their 13th straight match and improved to 27-1 overall and 13-1 in the MIAA. They'll play Saturday at 7 p.m. at Central Oklahoma.
Washburn hit .264 as a team and blocked nine Pitt State shots while the Gorillas hit .065 with three blocks.
Abby Wittman led Washburn with 29 assists and she added 13 digs for a double-double.
Courtney Churchman led the back row with 14 digs and
Hillary Hughes added 10.
Marissa Cox had six blocks and
Jessica Kopp added five. She played error-free as she hit .444 with eight kills.
Washburn was error-free as a team in the first set, hitting .400 while PSU hit -.103 as a team. Pittsburg State scored first in the second set but Washburn led the rest of the way after that. In the third set, Washburn was down 20-17 before going on a 7-0 run to get to set point. After a PSU point, Lewis set down the clinching point that gave Washburn a season sweep over Pitt State for the fourth straight year.
