TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Lady Blues netters dropped a 5-4 decision to Rockhurst on the Washburn tennis courts on Friday afternoon. Washburn returns to action and MIAA play against Fort Hays State on the road on Saturday.

Washburn was leading 2-1 after doubles action as the teams of Whitley Zitsch and Morgan Rainey won 8-5 and No. 2 doubles and Casyn Buchman and Sophie O'Neill picked up an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles entering singles play. However, Rainey and No. 1 singles and Kristin McKee at No. 6 singles both were forced to retire during their matches after becoming unable to play. O'Neill won her match over Karsyn Betts at No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-2 and Buchman topped Mary Lanaghan 6-4, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.
