HAYS, Kan. -- The Washburn Lady Blues improved to 5-7 overall and 2-1 in MIAA with a 6-3 win over Fort Hays State on Saturday afternoon. Washburn will host Emporia State on April 4.

Washburn was up 2-1 after doubles play after the No. 2 team of Whitley Zitsch and Morgan Rainey won their match 8-2. At No. 3 doubles Caysn Buchman and Kristin McKee won 8-3.

Washburn four of the six singles matches - all in straight sets. Rainey won 6-3, 6-3 over Camille Caron-Bedard at No. 1 singles. Jamie Blackim won her match at No. 4 singles while Buchman and Alyssa Castillo won their matches at No. 5 and No. 6 singles respectively.
