TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Lady Blues picked up a 6-3 over Northwest Missouri in tennis action while improving to 4-1 in MIAA play. Washburn will be back in action on April 14 at Truman.

The Lady Blues were up 2-1 after doubles play after Morgan Rainey and Whitley Zitsch picked up a 9-8 win over Erika Leston and Leslee Feldhaus taking the tiebreak 7-3 at No. 2 doubles. Casyn Buchman and Sophie O'Neill topped Kim Ho and Emily Hoffman 8-6 at No. 3 doubles.

Washburn's O'Neill and Alyssa Castillo each won their singles matches at No. 2 and No. 6 respectively winning 6-1, 6-2 for O'Neill and 6-1, 6-1 for Castillo. Jamie Blackim picked up the match-clinching win at No. 4 coming back from down a set to top Ho 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. Buchman gave the Lady Blues the 6-3 win also coming back from a set down topping Stephanie Mannix 2-6, 7-6 (13-11) and 10-5.

The loss dropped the Bearcats to 8-10, 3-1 in MIAA play.
