KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Washburn Lady Blues wrapped up the 2011-12 season with a 5-0 sweep over Emporia State in the third place match at the MIAA Tournament. The Lady Blues finished the season 11-8 and 6-1 during MIAA regular season play.

Washburn opened the match as Casyn Buchman and Sophie O'Neill topped Abby Mooris and Emily Huston 8-4 at No. 3 doubles. Whitley Zitsch and Morgan Rainey defeated Jennifer Gerhardt and Alex Crowe 8-5 at No. 2 doubles. At No. 1 doubles, Jamie Blackim and Alyssa Castillo finished the doubles sweep with a 9-8 win over Nicole Jara and Taylor Smith taking the tie-breaker 7-4.

Washburn's wins continued into singles plays as Zitsch won her No. 3 singles match 6-1, 6-0 over Tiffany Khounsombath and Castillo beat Abby Morris 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
