LAKEWOOD, Colo. -- The Washburn Lady Blues soccer team fell in extra time for the second straight match as they fell 3-2 to Colorado Christian. The Lady Blues will be back in action on Saturday against Colorado Mines.
Caysie Beetley put the Lady Blues in front 51 seconds into the second half with her second goal of the season. The Cougars tied the score in the 69th minute when Ashley Paul scored knotting the score at 1-1.
Beetley's second goal of the match in the 84th minute put the Lady Blues up 2-1, but the lead was short-lived as Paul scored her second goal of the match 2:20 later to help send the match into overtime.
In the 98th minute of the match, Rachael Berberrovich scored to end the match droping the Lady Blues to 0-3 on the season.
Beetley, who led the Lady Blues with six shots and five shots on goal, recorded a career-high two goals in a single appearance.
Danielle Curtis had three shots and
Sara Specht had two.
Tori Fuglister had four saves in the match while facing 11 shots, including four in the overtime period.
Overall Washburn outshot the Cougars 14-11.
