TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabod soccer team ran its unbeaten streak to four with a 3-0 win over Northwest Missouri on Sunday in Yager Stadium. Washburn (6-5-1, 3-2-1 MIAA) returns to action next Saturday when they travel to face Lindenwood.
Washburn had a 1-0 lead at the halftime break when they scored the first goal of the match off a corner kick from
Kaitlyn Doescher to
Lara Doescher who scored from 5-yards out recording her first goal of the season in the 26th minute.
The Ichabods added to their score in the 56th minute when
Caysie Beetley found a streaking
Kate Combs down the field for a break away goal when Combs scored from 18-yards out on her third goal of the season putting Washburn up 2-0.
Washburn wrapped up the scoring when
Kaitlyn Doescher scored her first goal of the season off an assist from
Brianna Ament from the corner of the penalty box after sending the ball over the keeper's outstretched hands into the back of the net.
Tori Fuglister recorded her fifth shutout of the season recording four saves facing 12 shots. Washburn outshot the Bearcats 16 to 12 in the match.
Beetley led the Ichabods with four shots including two on goal. Jordan Albright had three shots with two on goal to lead the Bearcats.
