TOPEKA, Kan. – The Ichabods took an early lead in the first set but gave it up halfway through as fourth-ranked Central Missouri went on to a 25-20, 25-21, 25-16 win Saturday afternoon at Schendel Court at Lee Arena.

In a battle of the only teams undefeated in MIAA play, Washburn fell to 19-4 and 6-1 in the league as it had a 13-match winning streak end. The Jennies improved to 22-0 and 8-0 in the league. Washburn will return to the road Friday with a 7 p.m. match at Northwest Missouri.

Corrinne Stringer led Washburn with 13 kills and she hit .345 off the bench.
Leanna Willer had nine kills and
Marissa Cox led Washburn with four blocks.

The Ichabods led 6-2 in the first set but the Jennies fought back and eventually used a 3-0 run to take a 14-13 lead. They later scored five straight to go up 20-15 and Washburn never got within three after that.

Washburn trailed the entire second set but got within a point at 21-20 after a kill from Stringer. UCM scored three straight after that to get to set point and later won on a kill.

The Jennies opened the third set on a 7-1 run and led by at least five the rest of the way.

Abby Wittman led Washburn with 34 assists and
Kelsey Lewis led with 12 digs.

The Ichabods were outhit, .345 to .275 and UCM led in kills, 52-38. Taylor Goodness led all players with 15 kills and Carly Sojka had 12. Mackenzie Harding had five blocks.
