Ichabods wrap up regular season with trip to Oklahoma

First touch
• The Washburn Ichabod soccer team will look to wrap up a first-round MIAA Tournament game this weekend as they will wrap up the regular season with road matches at Central Oklahoma and Northeastern State.
• The Ichabods have already clinched a MIAA playoff berth as they enter the weekend in second place in the MIAA standings with 19 points.
• Northeastern State is tied for third with 18 points along with Southwest Baptist.
• The top four teams in the final MIAA standings will host a first-round playoff game on Tuesday, Nov. 5 with the winners advancing to Olathe for the semifinals on Nov. 8 and the semifinal winners will play on Nov. 10 for the tournament championship. The tournament champion will also receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
• The Ichabods made their last appearance in the MIAA Tournament during the 2008 season.
• Washburn's nine wins this season is the most since the Ichabods had 11 during the 2009 season.
• Washburn is now 51-9-4 when leading at the half.

• Washburn has recorded seven shutouts this season (all by Tori Fuglister) … the most since the 2008 season when Washburn recorded eight shutouts.
• Of the 28 goals scored by the Ichabods this season, seven have been recorded by freshmen.

• Senior Lara Doescher has been a two-year member of the team and her sister Kaitlyn Doescher will play her final season at Washburn after transferring from St. Louis.
• One senior (Brianna Ament) has been a five-year member of the team after taking a medical redshirt in 2009.

• Caysie Beetley's career 144 shots is second all-time at Washburn trailing only Jessica Mainz's 314 career shots.
• Lara Doescher's two penalty kicks made is second all-time at Washburn.
• The 205 career saves for Tori Fuglister is third all-time at Washburn.
• The 1.09 points per game by Caysie Beetley is eighth on the Washburn single season chart.
• The 0.55 assists per game by Beetley is currently first on the single-season chart.

What's in a name
• Starting this season all of the women's athletic teams will be called Ichabods.
• All women's teams prior to the 2013-14 school year can and will be referenced to as Lady Blues.
• Name change was made to have a unified athletic department and to have a graphical representation of the sports teams at Washburn.
• 'Bods is allowable on second reference
• Lady Ichabods or Lady 'Bods should never be used.

Noting Central Oklahoma
• The Bronchos are 6-9-1 this season and 3-5-1 overall in MIAA play.
• Sarah Purcell leads the team with five goals and 11 points overall.
• Emily Hahn has three goals with four assists.
• Emily Thornbrugh has a 0.70 goal against average with a 2-2 overall record and three shutouts.
• The Bronchos have outscored their opponents 10 to 6 in the first half. 

Series history with Central Oklahoma
• UCO leads the all-time series 2-1-1.
• Washburn's lone win came in a 4-3 win in Wichita in a 4-3 win on Sept. 10, 2008.
• The Ichabods are 0-1 in matches played in Edmond and have not played there since Oct. 10, 2004 in a match which was called after 70 minutes because of wet field conditions.
• Washburn has been outscored 12 to 8 by the Bronchos in the four matches.

Noting Northeastern State
• The RiverHawks have won 8 of their last 9 matches entering the weekend with a 13-3 overall record and a 6-3 mark in MIAA play.
• Jennifer Clark leads the team with nine goals.
• Elizabeth Cudjoe had six goals and five assists.
• Jordan Woodruff has a 0.67 goal against average in net for the RiverHawks.

Series history with Northeastern State
• The RiverHawks lead the series 1-0-0 winning the only meeting with Washburn on Oct. 28, 2012 in Topeka 2-1.

Last time out for Washburn
(10/25/2013) TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabod soccer team blanked Missouri Southern 2-0 on senior night improving to 9-6-1 on the season and 6-2-1 in MIAA play. 
The Ichabods used a quick pass combo from Cadence Bourne to Brianna Ament to Bailey Wobig for her fourth goal of the season from 10 yards out in the 36th minute. Washburn would go on to take a 1-0 lead into the half.
In the second half, Ament scored her fourth goal of the season in the 51st minute of a pair of passes from Caysie Beetley and Taylor Mayhew putting Washburn up 2-0.
Washburn outshot the Lions 17 to 6 in the match including a 10 to 3 advantage in the first half. 
Beetley had five shots to lead the Ichabod attack with three shots on goal. Kate Combs and Ament each had three shots. Tori Fuglister picked up her seventh shutout of the season in net for Washburn and her ninth in her career at Washburn recording three saves while facing six shots.

Washburn Soccer history
• Washburn is 90-94-30 (.492) all-time in its 11th season of action. 
• In MIAA play, the Ichabods are 64-61-21 (.506). 
• In home matches, the Ichabods are 46-35-14 (.554).
• On the road, the Ichabods are 37-52-12 (.416).
• In matches on neutral sites, the Ichabods are 7-7-4 (.500).

The MIAA postseason tournament starts on Nov. 5 and the top eight teams in the final conference standings will advance to postseason play with the top four hosting a first round game on Nov. 5.
