Four More On The Road
Ichabods head to Joplin, Mo., for four matches this weekend
The 13th-ranked Ichabods will play an MIAA match Thursday at 7 p.m. at Missouri Southern and then play three games over the weekend against Great American Conference opponents in the MSSU Invite. Washburn (15-3, 5-0) will play East Central Friday at 4 p.m. and then Saturday against Arkansas Tech at 9 a.m. and Southeastern Oklahoma State at 1 p.m.
The Ichabods won their seventh and eighth straight matches last week with a sweep Friday against Fort Hays State and a five-set win over fifth-ranked Nebraska-Kearney Saturday. The win over UNK was the first over a top-five team since 2007.
Missouri Southern is 3-11 overall and 0-6 in the MIAA after finishing 0-30 last year. East Central is 6-8 overall, ATU is 12-5 and SEOSU is 7-7.

Washburn's win against UNK was its first against a top-five opponent since beating No. 1 Tampa in the 2007 NCAA national quarterfinal in Topeka.
The Ichabods were 0-6 in the previous matches against top-five opponents. They also hadn't beat UNK since 1986, going 0-14 in the previous matches.
Abby Wittman is 4th in career assists with 3,142 & needs 611 to move to third. She's 8th with 8.02 assists per set in her career and 14th with 102 service aces.
Wittman is 5th with 1,757 serve attempts and 18th with 1,122 digs.
Kelsey Lewis is 17th at Washburn with 1.126 digs and 8th with 3.50 per set.
WU is first in the MIAA with 19.10 digs per set and second allowing opponents to hit just .139 this year. The Ichabods are 3rd in attack percentage & in kills.
Cox is 3rd in the MIAA with 3.82 kills/set and seventh with a .329 attack percentage. Willer is 8th with 3.19 kills/set, the highest freshman total.
Corrine Stringer has 930 kills during her career. She played at PSU from 2009-10 and played at Kansas in 2008.
Herron is 22-0 against MSSU but the all-time series is tied at 34-34 going back to 1976. WU has swept the last six contests going back to 2009.
Herron is 8-0 against East Central, Ark. Tech and Southeastern Okla. in his career at WU. Overall, WU is 2-0 vs ECU, 4-2 vs ATU & 2-0 vs SEOSU.
All three school are from the Great American Conference and WU is 6-0 against schools from that league.

Ichabods move to 13th after win over top-five Nebraska-Kearney
The Ichabods jumped two spots to 13th in this week's AVCA poll released Monday afternoon. Washburn earned its 127th straight AVCA ranking, a streak that dates back to the start of the 2004 season.

UNK fell to eighth while Central Missouri stayed put at No. 4 with three first place votes. Concordia St. Paul got the remainder of the top votes and is No. 1 in the country. The Central Region makes up six of the top 13 teams in the nation.
Tied Atop MIAA Standings
Washburn and Central Missouri remain only undefeated schools in conference
The Ichabods are 5-0 in the MIAA and Central Missouri is 6-0 as the two teams are now the only undefeated schools in the league. Nebraska-Kearney fell to 4-1 after the loss to WU last Saturday. The top four teams in the MIAA host Nos. 5-8 in the first round of the postseason tournament November 19 and then the highest remaining seed hosts the semifinals November 22 and championship match on November 23.

Wittman climbs assists chart, Stringer nears 1,000 kills
Wittman is fourth in career assists at Washburn with 3,142 and she needs 611 to move to third and 773 to move to second. She's fifth at Washburn with 1,757 service attempts and 18th with 1,122 digs.
Corrine Stringer has 280 kills in her one year at Washburn. Adding her previous three years at Pittsburg State and Kansas, she has 930 career kills. She played at PSU from 2009-10 and at KU from 2008.

Two weekend MIAA matches at Lee Arena up next for Ichabods
Washburn will return home to host Southwest Baptist Friday, October 18, at 7 p.m. at Schendel Court at Lee Arena and then host No. 4 Central Missouri the next day at 3 p.m. The Ichabods will reach the halfway point of the MIAA season after that and they will have just three home matches remaining.
