Janelle Travis made 6 of 11 3-pointers to help Washburn beat Ouachita Baptist, 83-62 Saturday afternoon at the Hot Springs Village Evening Lions Tip-Off Classic.

The Ichabods improved to 2-1 and will wrap up their season-opening road trip with a game Thursday at 7 p.m. at Drury.

Travis was 8 of 15 overall from the field to lead all scorers with 22 points.
Casyn Buchman shot 7 of 13 from the field for 16 points and
Kara Lee came off the bench for 15 points with a 5 of 7 performance inside and a 5 of 7 performance from the free throw line.

Brittney Lynch led Washburn with 10 rebounds and she added eight points. The 22nd-ranked Ichabods led in rebounds, 36-26. Washburn shot 57 percent from the field in the game after a 62 percent effor (18 of 29) in the second half. The Lions shot 33 percent.

The Ichabods led by nine at halftime and OBU cut it to seven four minutes in. Lynch hit a lay-up and then Travis hit a 3-pointer and Washburn led by double figures the rest of the way. Another 3-pointer by Travis at 8:34 put the Ichabods up by 20 and a jumper from
Jharian Bowen at 1:41 made it a game-high 27-point lead.

Bowen ended with eight points off the bench with a 3 for 4 performance and Pfau scored five points. Buchman had five steals to lead Washburn and Travis four assists.

The two teams combined to miss their first eight points as they started slow. A pair of free throws at 16:16 from Lee finally started scoring for either team. Washburn then built the lead to 15-0 before the Lions finally scored at 12:11.

Washburn took a 22-point lead with 5:23 left in the first half before Ouachita Baptist ended the half on an 18-5 run to pull within nine at 37-28 at halftime.

Nashia James led the Lions with 16 points and five rebounds and Breanna Harris had 12 points.
