HAYS, Kan. – Washburn dropped the first set by two points but rebounded in the next three for a 26-28, 25-13, 25-19, 25-23 win Tuesday night.

The Ichabods improved to 26-4 overall and 11-1 in the MIAA to clinch a first round MIAA tournament match on November 19. Washburn has four matches remaining and will play its next one Friday at 7 p.m. against Pittsburg State at Schendel Court in Lee Arena.

Marissa Cox led three Ichabods with double figure kills as she had 15.
Leanna Willer had 13 kills and she tied a season high with 22 digs to record her 15th double-double.
Korie Thompson had 11 kills.

Washburn hit just .182 as a team but held the Tigers (12-16, 3-11 MIAA) to a .115 attack percentage. Each team recorded 11 blocks with
Sarah Vicory lead Washburn with a hand up on fix of them. Willer had five. Mallory Flagor blocked seven Washburn attempts.

Kelsey Lewis led the Washburn back line with 24 digs and
Abby Wittman added 19 with 49 assists for a double-double.

The Ichabods took a 23-21 lead in the fourth set on a kill from Cox and then a kill from
Sami McHenry got Washburn to match point. After one more FHSU point, Thompson knocked down a kill to finish the match.

Washburn trailed 17-12 in the first set and wasn't able to get within two until a block from Vicory and Willer made it 22-20, FHSU. Washburn finally tied the set at 23-23 and then got to set point at 24-23 and 25-24. The Tigers answered each time and finished the set on a 3-0 run to take an early lead.

Washburn answered with a 4-0 start to the second set and never trailed. The Ichabods led by scores of 8-2 and 21-10.

The third set was tied 13-13 before a 7-2 run made it 20-15. Thompson later got Wahsburn to set point and then Vicory closed that set with a kill.

Sara Hewson and Taylor Mares each had 13 kills for the Tigers. Hewson added 17 digs for a double-double.
