FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Ichabods led by five at halftime but fourth-ranked Nova Southeastern went 19 of 25 from the free throw line in the second half to come back and beat No. 22 Washburn, 90-87 in both team's season opener.

Washburn will stay at NSU and play Sunday at 1 p.m. Central against Barry in the final game of the NSU Sharks Tip-Off Classic.
The Ichabods lost their first season opener since 1998-99, a streak that went back 14 years.
Honor Duvall led Washburn with 21 points off the bench and
Brittney Lynch had her first career double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. She was 5 of 7 from the field.
Janelle Travis scored 15 points and
Casyn Buchman had 14. Buchman added a team-high seven assists.

A 3-pointer from Travis with 1:16 remaining in the game cut the Sharks' lead to three at 87-84. Nova Southeastern made three free throws after that to go back up by six and then Buchman hit a 3 with six seconds left. Washburn couldn't get the ball back after that as time expired.

Washburn shot 46 percent from the field and 38 percent from 3-point range. The Ichabods were 81 percent (17 of 21) from the free throw line. The Sharks shot 44 percent from the field and 38 percent from long range. They were 27 of 37 from the line for a 73 percent effort.

Washburn edged NSU in rebounds, 39-38 and committed 16 turnovers to NSU's 13.
