Lady Blues to face Newman and Southeastern in weekend matches

warm ups . . . 
The Washburn Lady Blues return to action for the first time in two weeks as they will travel to take on Newman in Wichita, Kan., on Friday before returning home on Saturday to face Southeastern Oklahoma at 4:30 p.m. at Wood Valley Racquet Club.
Drop shots . . . 
• The Lady Blues are coming off a 9-0 loss to NCAA Division I foe Arkansas-Little Rock.
• Newman is 5-1 this season coming off a 9-0 over Tabor in its last match on Feb. 16.
• Newman also owns a 7-2 win over MIAA foe Fort Hays State and a 6-3 loss to Central Oklahoma.
• Southeastern Oklahoma is 4-3 entering a Feb. 26 match with Oklahoma Baptist. 
• Southeastern is also facing Northwest Missouri on March 1 prior to facing the Lady Blues on March 2.
Jodie Blackim leads the team with six singles wins so far this season while fellow freshman Gwen Shepler has four wins.
• Sophomore Casyn Buchman recorded four wins in the fall but will not join the Lady Blues tennis team until basketball season is over.
• In singles play this season, Washburn is 23-43 overall while recording a 14-22 record in doubles play.
• In dual matches, Washburn is yet to pick up a singles point going 0-18 in three matches.
• In dual matches, Washburn is 1-8 overall in doubles play. 
• The doubles team of Blackim and Kirsten Holle has the lone win for Washburn.

Washburn will open MIAA play with a two-day road trip into Oklahoma taking on Northeastern State on March 8 and then Central Oklahoma on March 9.
