Lady Blues netters start busy week with Rockhurst on Thursday

Warm ups . . . 
The Washburn Lady Blues tennis squad will return to the court to face Rockhurst in Kansas City on March 14 before returning to MIAA play to take on Lindenwood the following day in Topeka. Washburn will wrap up the busy week with East Central on Saturday at home when they will face the Tigers.
Drop shots . . . 
• The Lady Blues are coming off a 5-1 loss to Central Oklahoma.
• Washburn fell 9-0 to Northeastern State the day before.
• Rockhurst is 5-3 this season and has won its last three matches.
• Lindenwood is 2-3 this season entering a match with Missouri-St. Louis this on Tuesday.
• Lindenwood has had two MIAA matches postponed this season.
• East Central is 0-3 this season and will have three matches this week prior to facing the Lady Blues on Saturday.
• ECU will take on Northwest Missouri and Missouri Western on Friday.
Jodie Blackim leads the team with six singles wins so far this season while fellow freshman Gwen Shepler has four wins.
• Sophomore Casyn Buchman recorded four wins in the fall but will not join the Lady Blues tennis team until basketball season is over.
• In singles play this season, Washburn is 24-63 overall while recording a 17-31 record in doubles play.
• In dual matches, Washburn is 1-38 in singles play while going 4-17 in doubles play.
• The doubles team of Blackim and Kirsten Holle has two of the four doubles wins while the duo of Sophie O'Neill and Gwen Shepler have the other two wins.
Up Next. . . 
Washburn will take on Johnson County on March 26 in an exhibition match and return to MIAA play at Lincoln on March 29 and at Southwest Baptist on March 30.
