Lady Blues open MIAA Tournament as No. 7 seed

Tournament Notes

Warm ups . . . 
The Washburn Lady Blues will be the No. 7 seed in the upcoming MIAA Tournament in Springfield, Mo. at the Cooper Tennis Center starting on Friday. The Lady Blues have won three of their last four matches entering the event and will take on the No. 2 seeded-Northeastern State RiverHawks on Friday 11 a.m. 

Drop shots . . . 
• The Lady Blues went 3-2 last week topping Truman and Missouri Western 8-1 and William Jewell 5-4 in non-conference play. Washburn lost to Northwest Missouri 5-2 on April 11 and fell 9-0 to No. 35-ranked Southwest Baptist on Tuesday in a make up match from earlier in the season.
Jodie Blackim leads the team with 13 singles wins this season while Casyn Buchman 11 singles wins after not joining the team until the end of basketball season.
• In singles play this season, Washburn is 56-107 overall while recording a 39-48 record in doubles play.
• In dual matches, Washburn is 26-34 in singles play while going 26-34 in doubles play.
• Washburn is 33-82 in singles play in MIAA dual matches.
• The doubles team of Blackim and Kirsten Holle has 12 wins going 12-11 overall while Sophie O'Neill and Buchman have gone 12-6 overall including a 7-3 mark in dual matches and 6-2 in MIAA matches.
• Washburn has had 14 different doubles team combinations and ten of those have come in dual matches.

*In case of inclement weather and matches need to be moved indoors, the consolation, and 3rd place matches will not be played.

The Lady Blues will need to win the MIAA Tournament to receive the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament which will start on April 26 on campus locations.
