Weekly Match Notes
First touch
• The Washburn Ichabod soccer team will kickoff the 11th season of action when they will host Northern State on Sept. 6 at 6 p.m. in Yager Stadium.
• Following the game with the Wolves, Washburn will travel to Wayne, Neb., to take on Wayne State at 2 p.m.
• Washburn is coming off a 4-14-0 season in 2012.
• The Ichabods were picked 10th in the MIAA preseason coaches poll.
Story lines
• The Ichabods will have one of their largest senior classes in the program's history as nine Washburn student-athletes will play their final season in the blue and white.

Lara Doescher has been a two-year member of the team and her sister
Kaitlyn Doescher will play her final season at Washburn after transferring from St. Louis.

Brianna Ament) has been a five-year member of the team after taking a medical redshirt in 2009.Â
About the Ichabods
• The Washburn Ichabod soccer team will return a wealth of experience for the 2013 season as 16 players who saw action last year will return to the squad looking to continue their climb back to the top of the MIAA.
• One stat from 2012 the Ichabods would like to change is their 2-9 recor d in one-goal matches. The Ichabods dropped their last four matches of the season by 2-1 scores.
What's in a name
• Starting this season all of the women's athletic teams will be called Ichabods.
• All women's teams prior to the 2013-14 school year can and will be referenced to as Lady Blues.
• Name change was made to have a unified athletic department and to have a graphical representation of the sports teams at Washburn.
• 'Bods is allowable on second reference
• Lady Ichabods or Lady 'Bods should never be used.
Scouting Northern State
• The Wolves finished the 2012 season 3-12-3 overall and finished 14th in the Northern Sun Conference with a 2-10-3 record.
• Head coach Steve Kehm is in his 14th season as the Wolves head coach and has gone 147-88-31 at the helm of the program.  Â
Series history with Northern State
• The Ichabods and Wolves have never faced each other in soccer.
Scouting Wayne State
• Wayne State was 5-11-2 overall last season and finished 12th in the Northern Sun Conference with a 2-10-1 record.
• Tom Cliff is in his first season as the head coach of the Wildcats.

• Washburn leads the all-time series 1-0-0.

Last meeting with Wayne State
(9/3/2006) WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Washburn soccer team improved to 4-0 for the first time in school history with a win over Wayne State (Neb.) at the UCM/Holiday Inn Classic in Warrensburg, Mo.
Senior Jolene Silovsky scored the first goal of the match in the fifth minute putting Washburn up 1-0. It was the first of two goals for the Topeka-native as she scored her second goal of the afternoon in the 73rd minute.
Sophomore Jessica Mainz recorded her fifth goal of the season in the 20th minute of the match and freshman Ashley Taylor scored her first collegiate goal right before the halftime break of an assist by senior Lauren Schwindt.Â
The four-match winning streak was the first for the soccer program's history. Â Â

• Washburn is 81-88-29 (.492) all-time in its 11th season of action.Â
• In MIAA play, the Ichabods are 58-59-20 (.512).Â

Caysie Beetley needs four points to move into the top 10 all-time at Washburn on the career point chart.
• Beetley's next goal would be her 10th of her Ichabod career and move her into a tie for 10th all-time at Washburn.
Up next
The Ichabods will return to action on Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. in Kansas City, Mo., when they will take on Rockhurst. Following the match with the Hawks the Ichabods will return to Yager Stadium to face Augustana at 6 p.m. on Sept. 13 and Colorado Christian on Sept. 15 at noon. Washburn will open MIAA play at Emporia State at 7 p.m. on Sept. 20.
