Four Bods reach double figures to help McHenry get 200th MIAA win

TOPEKA, Kan. – The Ichabods pulled ahead in the final 10 minutes Saturday in a 73-55 win over Northwest Missouri at Schendel Court in Lee Arena as head coach Ron McHenry earned his 200th career MIAA victory.
 
The Ichabods won their second straight game and improved to 9-5 overall and 4-3 in the MIAA. Washburn will now break during the midweek next week and play Saturday at 5 p.m. against Pittsburg State.
 
Washburn led by just six at the 12:20 mark of the second half before going on a 10-0 run to lead 53-37 with 9:59 to go. The Bearcats never got closer than 11 points down after that.
 
Casyn Buchman led Washburn with 19 points as she was 8 of 14 from the field with three 3-pointers. She also had eight rebounds. Taylor Ignoto kept her streak going with another double-figure game as she had 15 points. She's scored at least 14 in all six of her games this year. Brittney Lynch rounded out the starters in double figures with 10 points and Haley Pfau came off the bench to score a career-high 12 points all off a career-high three 4-pointers.
 
Pfau hit three of her shots in the first half as Washburn built a 35-26 lead at the break. Washburn then returned to the court to shoot 47 percent in the second half. A 7-0 run late in the game pushed Washburn's lead above 20 for the first time at 73-51 with 1:53 to go.
 
Overall, Washburn shot 44 percent in the game while the Bearcats shot 34 percent. Washburn made 11 of 28 3-pointers and the Bearcats hit 3 of 15.
 
Janelle Travis had a season-high eight assists and she added eight points, four rebounds and two steals. Honor Duvall led the Ichabods with nine rebounds off the bench.
 
Northwest Missouri was led by Ariel Easton with 15 points and Annie Matthews with 13 rebounds.
 
Washburn won its 30th straight home game over the Bearcats, a streak that dates back to the late 1980s.
