Opening Notes
• The Washburn Ichabod soccer team returns home for its longest homestand of the season when they will play host to Missouri Southern on Oct. 17 and Southwest Baptist on Oct. 19 at Yager Stadium.
•   The Ichabods are 0-11-1 overall and 0-7-1 in MIAA play.
•   Last week the Ichabods were blanked in both matches as they fell 1-0 to Missouri Western and 2-0 at Northwest Missouri.
•    The Ichabods were picked fifth in the MIAA preseason coaches poll.
 'Bod's and Ends
•    The Ichabods are looking for their first win of the season.
•   Washburn has scored only four goals in 1,100 minutes of action this season and have been shutout in its last four matches.
•    The Washburn Ichabod soccer team has 13 freshmen on the roster this season.
•    Washburn is 2-11 in matches the last two seasons in matches which were decided by one goal going 0-8 this season.

Emily Stauffer leads the Ichabods with two goals this season.

Devon Schmitz recorded her first goal of the season and her third of her career against Emporia State.

Audra Keehn scored her first collegiate goal against Northern State off an assist from Jenna Cunninghman.

•   Washburn has been outshot by its opponents 202 to 88 this season including an 98 to 48 disadvantage in the second half of matches this season.
•    Washburn has recorded 27 corner kicks compared to 64 for its opponents.
•    Four of the seniors (

Jenna Cunningham and
Whitney Skinner) have been part of the program for  four years.
•    With eight sophomores and three redshirt freshmen the Ichabods will have 24 of their 30 players listed as underclassmen.
•    Washburn's roster has 30 players on it for the 2014 season. It is the largest roster the Ichabods have had in the program's history.

Kaitlin Minnich saw her first action in goal against Emporia State and shut the Hornets out for the final 65 minutes of the match with four saves picking up the tie in net.
 Noting Missouri Southern
•   The Lions are 3-7-2 this season and 1-6-1 in MIAA play after picking up a double overtime, 0-0 tie with Lindenwood last time out.
•   Casey Vitale leads the team with five goals scored.
•   The all-time series with the Lions is tied 7-7-6. Washburn won the last meeting 2-0 on Oct. 25, 2013 in Topeka.
•   Of the 20 all-time meetings with the Lions, eight have gone into overtime.

(Oct. 25, 2013) TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabod soccer team blanked Missouri Southern 2-0 on senior night improving to 9-6-1 on the season and 6-2-1 in MIAA play.Â
The Ichabods used a quick pass combo from
Cadence Bourne to
Brianna Ament to
Bailey Wobig for her fourth goal of the season from 10 yards out in the 36th minute. Washburn would go on to take a 1-0 lead into the half.
In the second half, Ament scored her fourth goal of the season in the 51st minute of a pair of passes from
Caysie Beetley and
Taylor Mayhew putting Washburn up 2-0.
Washburn outshot the Lions 17 to 6 in the match including a 10 to 3 advantage in the first half.Â
Beetley had five shots to lead the Ichabod attack with three shots on goal.
Kate Combs and Ament each had three shots.
Tori Fuglister picked up her seventh shutout of the season in net for Washburn and her ninth in her career at Washburn recording three saves while facing six shots..
 Noting Southwest Baptist
•   Southwest Baptist is 9-3-0 and 6-2-0 in the MIAA entering a Friday match with Emporia State.
•   The Bearcats lead the all-time series with the Ichabods 7-5-7.
•   Washburn won the last meeting 4-1 in Topeka on Sept. 29, 2013.
•   Seven of the 17 matches with Southwest Baptist have gone into overtime.

TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabod soccer team improved to 4-5 and 1-2 in MIAA play with a 4-1 win over Southwest Baptist Sunday afternoon in Yager Stadium.Â
After taking a 1-0 halftime lead on
Caysie Beetley's first goal of the season on an assist from
Kaitlyn Doescher as she took advantage of a misplay by the SBU goalie at the top of the box to send it into the back of the net from 10-yards out.Â
Then in the second half, Washburn scored three goals started by
Brianna Ament's second goal of the season on an assist from Beetley and
Kate Combs when she scored on a centering pass from 8-yards out in the 60th minute of play taking a 2-0 lead.
Bailey Wobig added to the Washburn lead with her first goal of the season from the left side of the field into the back of the net after
Whitney Skinner and Combs connected on a pair of passes to Wobig in the 65th minute putting Washburn up 3-0.
SBU score its first and only goal of the day when Kate Jamison scored for the fifth time this season from 15-yards out after a pass from Alie Skogrand in the 75th minute.
Wobig scored her second goal of the day on an assist from
Megan Buckley after Buckley's free kick assist from nearly 65 yards away was sent into the net by Wobig with just under five minutes left to play in the match.
Tori Fuglister had the win in net for Washburn collecting four saves facing six goals.
Overall, Wobig had two scores and Combs and two assists and Beetley scored both a goal while recording an assist in the win.
It was a physical match with 30 fouls being called with 16 being whistled on the Bearcats.
Washburn improved to 64-16-13 all-time when scoring first and to 49-9-4 when leading at the half.
