Five-match road trip starts with two this weekend including at No. 19 UCM Saturday

TOPEKA, Kan. -- The eight-ranked Ichabods begin a five-match road trip with a pair of MIAA contests this weekend. Friday they play at Lindenwood at 7 p.m. and then Saturday they play at 19th-ranked Central Missouri at 3 p.m.

Washburn started last week in first place but went 1-2 to drop to fourth with an 18-3 overall record and 10-3 mark in the conference. Three teams ahead of the Bods, including UCM, are tied for first at 11-2.
Lindenwood is 5-16 overall and tied for last in the league at 2-11. The Bods swept the Lions earlier in the year in Topeka. UCM is 14-7 overall and one of its two MIAA losses came earlier in Topeka in a Washburn sweep.
Marissa Cox earned her 1,000th career kill 9/19 against NWMSU. She is now  16th in WU career history with 1,147 kills and her next one will tie her with her sister, Mandi Cox (2004-07) for 15th. Twenty-one more will tie her with Hillary Hughes (2009-12) for 14th with 1,168.
Cox is third in school history hitting .325 and Mandi is second with a .326 percentage. Sophomore Sarah Vicory is hitting .330 in her career and will be eligible to enter the chart after completing her second year.
Vicory leads the MIAA hitting .383 this year, 53 points higher than any competition. Cox is fourth hitting .326 and she Cox is third in the league with 3.85 kills a set. Leanna Willer is sixth with 3.64 a set. Mattie-Ann Swenson is fourth with 1.19 blocks a set and Alyssa Carney is third with 4.97 digs a set.
Cox is now ninth in school history with 51 double-figure kill matches and Leanna Willer is ninth with 23 career double-doubles.
WU is 3-0 all-time against Lindenwood as they just joined the MIAA in 2012. Central Missouri leads the series against Washburn 49-14 but the Ichabods are 5-3 against UCM in the regular season series the last five years.
The Ichabods dropped three spots in the AVCA national poll to eighth. They have been ranked 142 straight times going back to 2003 and have been in the top 10 in all eight polls this year.
