Tue. with FHSU & Senior Day Sat. with No. 6 UNK wrap up regular season

Complete Game Notes (pdf)

The Ichabods will finish the regular season with a pair of matches this week at Schendel Court in Lee Arena and then hope they did enough to extend their season with a berth in the eight-team NCAA Central Region tournament. No. 13 Washburn hosts Fort Hays State Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Schendel Court in Lee Arena. Lone senior Marissa Cox will then be honored before Saturday's Senior Day match with sixth-ranked Nebraska-Kearney at 7 p.m.

The Ichabods are tied for third in the MIAA and would need to win twice and have UNK and Central Missouri lose its two matches this week to earn a share of the MIAA title. Everyone wraps up their season by Saturday and then the NCAA selection show is Sunday at 9 p.m. The Ichabods have been to 10 straight NCAA tournament.

Ichablogging Weekly Notes
The regular season will come to a close this week as No. 13 Washburn hosts Fort Hays State Tuesday at 7 and sixth-ranked Nebraska-Kearney Saturday at 7. Saturday is Senior Day for lone senior Marissa Cox.
Washburn is 23-5 overall and tied for third in the MIAA at 15-5. FHSU is 13-16 overall and 7-13 in the MIAA. UNK is 25-3 and tied for first in the MIAA at 17-3. WU needs to win out and have UNK and UCM lose twice to tie for the MIAA title.
WU was eighth in last week's NCAA Central Region ranking and will need to jump to seventh to get in the eight-team regional as the GAC winner will likely take the eighth spot. The MIAA, NSIC and GAC winners get automatic berths in the tournament.
Washburn swept FHSU earlier this year and was swept at UNK in what was a top-10 battle.
The Ichabods went 2-0 last week with a 3-1 win over Pitt State and a sweep over Southwest Baptist.
The Ichabods have been to 10 straight NCAA tournaments dating back to 2004. They also went in 2002, Chris Herron's first year.
Marissa Cox is tied for 12th in school history with 1,220 career kills. Four more will move her to 11th. She is fifth hitting .320 in her career and 15th with 307 blocks. She's the 10th Ichabod with 1,000 career kills and 300 blocks.
Leanna Willer was named MIAA hitter of the week after she tied a school record with 28 kills in a four-set match Friday against PSU. That total is the fourth most in any Washburn match.
WU is 40-44 all-time against FHSU with wins in 18 straight contests going back to 2004. UNK holds a 28-8 advantage in the series against Washburn and had won 13 straight in the series until WU swept the season series last year.
The Ichabods stayed unchanged at 13th in this week's AVCA national poll. They have been ranked 145 straight times going back to 2003 and were in the top 10 in the first nine polls this year.
