HAYS, Kan. – The Ichabods gave up 19 offensive rebounds and 24 second chance points in a 69-62 loss Saturday at Fort Hays State.

The loss ended a six-game winning streak for the Ichabods and dropped them to 13-6 overall and 8-4 in the MIAA. Washburn will return to Schendel Court at Lee Arena with a 5:30 p.m. game Wednesday against third-ranked Emporia State.

Taylor Ignoto led the Ichabods with 14 points as she was 5 of 11 from the field and 3 of 5 from 3-point range.
Janelle Travis also hit three 3-pointers and ended with 13 points.
Casyn Buchman and
Brittney Lynch each had 10 points. Lynch led Washburn with seven rebounds.

Washburn led four times in the early minutes but never by more than two points. The Tigers broke a 13-13 tie at the 11:26 mark of the first half with an 8-0 run and didn't trail again the rest of the way. They led 33-26 at halftime.

An 8-1 run by Washburn in the second half tied the score at 43-43 but the Tigers jumped ahead after that. A layup by Buchman at the 4:42 mark got Washburn within a point at 55-54 but Fort Hays State answered with six straight points and Washburn never got within five after that. The Tigers hit 6 of 8 free throws in the final minute to keep Washburn at bay.

Washburn outshot the Tigers, 43 percent to 35 percent but suffered its worst rebounding margin of the year as the Tigers were +18 at 47-29. Washburn had only been out-rebounded four times before and never by more than four rebounds.

Fort Hays State improved to 15-4 and 8-4 in the MIAA. The Tigers moved to 11-0 in home games and are joined by Washburn in a three-way tie for fourth place in the MIAA.

Kate Lehman led the Tigers with 14 points as she was 5 of 9 from the field. Katelyn Edwards added eight points and a game-high 14 rebounds.
