EMPORIA, Kan. – The Ichabods trailed by 22 at halftime and never recovered in a 70-53 loss Saturday at No. 7 Emporia State.

Washburn fell to 16-9 overall and 11-7 in the MIAA and will wrap up the regular season March 1 at Pittsburg State at 1:30 p.m.

Honor Duvall came off the bench as Washburn's only double-figure scorer with 15 points. She was 4 of 9 from the field and 7 of 10 from the free throw line.
Brittney Lynch scored seven points and led the Ichabods with nine rebounds.

Washburn shot 3 of 19 in the first half and trailed 38-16 at the half. The Lady Hornets (25-2, 16-2 MIAA) shot 58 percent in the half. The Ichabods improved to shoot 42 percent in the econd half and they outscored ESU 37-32 that half.

Washburn fell behind 44-21 early in the second half then used an 8-0 run to close the gap to 15 points with 14:22 to go. ESU answered with a 10-0 run and didn't get any closer than 19 down until the final 1:20 when a three-point play from
Taylor Ignoto ended a 5-0 run.

Washburn won the rebound battle 40-31 but had 21 turnovers while the Lady Hornets had 15. The Ichabods ended the game shooting 32 percent while ESU was 51 percent. Emporia State made 6 of 16 3-pointers while Washburn made just 1 of 10. The Ichabods got to the free throw line 30 times and made 20 of the shots while Emporia State was 4 of 8.

Kionna Kellog and Merissa Quick led Emporia State with 13 points each and Quick added 11 rebounds for a double-double.
