Ichabods hit over .300 in sweep at Southeastern Oklahoma

DURANT, Okla. – Washburn trailed just once in a 25-13, 25-22, 25-19 win Friday night at Southeastern Oklahoma in the South Central Classic.
 
The seventh-ranked Ichabods improved to 6-0 and will now travel to Ada, Oklahoma, for the final two matches of the classic Saturday. They play Texas A&M-International at 10 a.m. and Langston at 2 p.m.
 
Leanna Willer led the attack and the defense with her first double-double of the year. She had team highs of 16 kills and 14 digs and hit .394 in the match. Marissa Cox hit .435 with 11 kills and Sarah Vicory hit a career-high .625 with 10 kills and no errors in 16 attempts.
 
Natalie Bates set 20 assists and Liz Powell had 15. Alyssa Carney had 13 digs and two aces.
 
The Ichabods gave up their only lead of the night as the Savage Storm opened the third set on a 4-0 run. They later led 6- before Washburn scored five straight to tie the set. Two straight kills from Willer later gave the Ichabods their first lead and Washburn held the advantage the rest of the way to clinch the set.
 
The Ichabods hit .309 and kept the Savage Storm to a .194 attack. Washburn won in kills 45-33 and in digs 42-32. There were just six blocks between the two schools with SEOSU getting four of them.
