The Ichabods will play their home and MIAA opener Tuesday when they host Emporia State at 7 p.m. in the Turnpike Tussle. Washburn is 8-0 and ranked fifth in the nation after earning one first-place vote in this week's AVCA national poll.

Washburn will play its home and MIAA opener Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Emporia State at Schendel Court in Lee Arena. The Ichabods will then travel to Northwest Missouri Friday at 7 p.m. and Missouri Western Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Ichabods went 4-0 last weekend in the South Central Classic to improve to 8-0. They swept all but one opponent and are 24-1 in sets this year.
Washburn is 12-0 in MIAA openers under Herron and he's opened against ESU the last two years with 3-0 sweeps.
Overall, the Ichabods have won nine straight against the Hornets but ESU holds a 76-34 advantage in the all-time series. The Bods are 42-19 all-time against NWMSU with eight straight wins. MWSU is 43-35 against Washburn but the Ichabods have won all 21 matches in Herron's 12 years.
ESU started its season 4-1 and didn't play last weekend. The Bearcats are 3-5 after losing three of four last weekend. They host Lindenwood on Tuesday. Missouri Western hosts Central Missouri Tuesday and ESU on Friday before welcoming Washburn on Saturday. The Griffons are 6-2 after winning three of four last week.

Marissa Cox enters the week with 973 kills and she needs 27 more to become the 18th member of Washburn's 1,000 Kill Club. She moved up a spot last week to second in WU career history with a .329 attack percentage. She's three points above her sister (Mandi Cox, 2004-07).
The Ichabods went 31-6 last year and won a share of their third MIAA title in the last four years with a 15-1 conference record.
The Ichabods earned a first-place vote and moved from seventh to fifth in this week's AVCA national poll and have been ranked 137 straight times. This is their highest ranking since week 11 of 2012.
