AVCA National PollTOPEKA, Kan. -- The seventh-ranked Ichabods will play in their second and final four-match weekend event when they travel to Oklahoma this weekend for the South Central Classic. They'll play Southern Nazarene Friday at noon and then host school Southeastern Oklahoma at 7 p.m. Saturday they will play Texas A&M-International at 10 a.m. and Langston at 2 p.m. East Central will host Saturday's matches.

The Ichabods (4-0) will play three NCAA II schools and an NAIA opponent this weekend when they play at two different locations in the South Central Classic.
Friday they'll play Southern Nazarene at noon and host school Southeastern Oklahoma at 7 p.m. in Durant, Oklahoma. Saturday they'll play in Ada, Oklahoma, against Texas A&M-International at 10 a.m. and Langston University at 2 p.m. East Central will host Saturday's matches.
These will be Washburn's final non-conference matches before playing each of the 11 MIAA schools at home and away the remainder of the season.
The Ichabods swept all four opponents last weekend at the Midwestern State Invitational and only allowed an opponent to score 20 points in a set twice.
The four wins last weekend made coach
Chris Herron 52-0 in season-opening weekend tournaments in his 13 years at Washburn.
The Ichabods went 31-6 last year and won a share of their third MIAA title in the last four years with a 15-1 conference record.
Washburn was picked second in the MIAA preseason coaches poll with four of the 12 first-place votes. The Ichabods moved from 10th to seventh in this week's AVCA national poll and have been ranked 136 straight times. This is their highest ranking since being No. 6 after week 1 of last year.

Marissa Cox is third in school history with a .325 career attack percentage, one point below her sister (Mandi Cox, 2004-07) and three points above current assistant coach
Jessica Fey (2009-12).
Cox is 19th in school history with 925 career kills. She needs 75 to become the 18th Ichabod to reach 1,000 in a career.
Washburn is 2-0 against Southern Nazarene with the last meeting in 2000. The Ichabods are 3-0 against Southeastern Oklahoma and have met each of the last two years. They won their only meeting against Texas A&M-International in 2011 and have never played Langston.
