SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabod women's tennis team opened the spring slate with a 9-0 loss at No. 29-ranked Drury. The Ichabods will return to action on Saturday night against East Central in Springfield.

The Ichabods were down 3-0 after doubles play after the No. 1 team of Jodie Blackim and Kirsten Holle lost 8-6 and Maggie Plum and Gwen Shepler fell 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. The No. 3 squad of Nzingha Banks and Maria Moral Carretero lost 8-0 at No. 3.

In singles, Blackim lost 7-6, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. Plum fell 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 and Holle dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision at No. 3 singles. At No. 4, Shepler lost 6-1, 6-0 and Moral Carretero lost 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 singles while Banks lost 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
