WICHITA, Kan. -- The No. 44 ranked Washburn Ichabod men's tennis team was shutout in a 7-0 loss by the No. 48 NCAA Division I ranked Wichita State Shockers on Wednesday afternoon in Wichita. Washburn returns to the courts on Friday when they will play host to Concordia (Neb.) at 2 p.m. at the Washburn Tennis Courts.

Starting out in singles play, the Ichabods' No. 1 player Martin Wieand won the first set 6-4 and the second set was tied 5-5 before play was stopped in singles play. Blake Hunter and Matt Barlow each lost tiebreakers at No. 2 and No. 3 singles respectively.

In doubles play using NCAA Division I scoring rules, Trey Horton and Blake Hunter fell 6-1 at No. 2 doubles and Todd Rillinger and Dario Munoz-Poletti lost 6-1 at No. 3 doubles 6-1. The No. 1 team of Matt Barlow and Martin Wieand was down 4-3 before the match was called as the Shockers reached seven points.
