BOLIVAR, Mo. -- The No. 44-ranked Washburn Ichabod tennis won the top two singles flights, but it was not enough as the No. 28 Southwest Baptist won Monday's match 7-2. The Ichabods will be back in action at Nebraska-Kearney on Wednesday.
After dropping the three doubles matches to start the afternoon, Washburn fought back as
Martin Wieand topped Kristof Kinal 7-6, 4-6, 7-6 at No. 1 singles to pick up a point. Kinal is ranked No. 36 in the nation in singles this season.
Washburn's
Blake Hunter won his match at No. 2 singles 6-4, 6-3 over Chris Blodig for the Ichabods' second point of the afternoon.
