TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabod men's tennis team opened the 2016 dual poriton of its schedule with a 9-0 sweep over William Jewell on Saturday at the Washburn Tennis Complex.The Ichabods will host their annual alumni match next Saturday on campus starting at 9 a.m. as part of Washburn's Family Day festivities.

The Ichabods opened with three doubles wins as the team of Blake Hunter and Alejandro Valarezo Plaza won their match at No. 1 doubles 8-4. At No. 2 doubles, Matt Barlow and Zach Hampton picked up an 8-2 win and at No. 3 doubles Brett White and Trey Horton cruised to an 8-1 win.

In singles action, the Ichabods lost only 16 games overall as the Ichabods won each flight in straight sets wrapping up the 9-0 win. Valarezo picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles while Barlow won his match at No. 2 6-0, 6-1. At No. 3 singles, Hunter won 6-3, 6-0 and Dario Munoz-Poletti won his match at No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-3.

White won his match 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5 singles while Will Agritelley won his match at No. 6 singles 6-2, 6-2.
