Washburn Heads Across the State Line for Pair of Weekend Matches

 Headlines

• Washburn hits the road for the first time since Oct. 2 for a pair of matches against Missouri Western and Northwest Missouri State this weekend.

• Washburn is 2-3-1 on the road this season and 47-47-19 all-time against conference foes located in Missouri.

 Last time out

• Washburn closed out a four match homestand by splitting a pair of matches last weekend against Lindenwood and then No.4 Central Missouri.

• The Ichabods downed Lindenwood 1-0 off  of Kate Combs first goal of the season inside the 81st minute

• Washburn was handed its first home loss of the season by then fourth ranked Central Missouri 3-0 .

 'Bod's and Ends

• Morgan El-Attrache is the Ichabods'  leading scorer thus far into the season with nine points off of three goals and two assist.

• Morgan El-Attrache also leads Washburn in the assist category with three.  

•  Kaitlin Minnich is the Ichabods primary goalkeeper with a GAA of 0.98 and 46 saves. Minnich has allowed 11 goals this season on 137 shots faced.

Second Half Surge

 • The Ichabods have scored a total of 17 goals this season 10 of which came during the second period.

 Don't Call It a Comeback

• The Ichabods  have posted two come from behind wins after a late goal this season.

• Mackenzie Heiman scored her first goal of the season and first match-winning goal of her career in the 87th minute of the Ichabods 2-1 win over Missouri Southern.

• Morgan El-Attrache snagged the second and third goals of her career in Washburn's 2-1 win over Southwest Baptist. El-Attrache scored the match-winning goal at 90:33 in overtime, earning the first golden-goal of her career.

• The last time the Ichabods staged a comeback was in 2013 against Fort Hays State when Washburn came from behind to win 2-1.

 Spreading the Wealth

• 12 different Ichabods have scored goals this season and 19 have taken shots over the course of the season.

• The Ichabods scored 14 points in its home opener over Northwestern Oklahoma State for the third time in program history. Eight different players scored points during the match.

Record Watch

• If the season were to end today Ellie Karloff would be tied sixth all-time for assist per game with 0.21.

• If the season were to end today Kaitlin Minnich would be second all-time in  save percentage posting a .820 and third all-time in goals against average with an average of 0.92.



Scouting Report : Missouri Western

• Missouri Western enters its 12th season under head coach Chad Edwards.

• The Griffons entered this season tabbed 5th in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll after finishing last season with a 6-6-2 overall record.

• MWSU is 9-5 going into this weekends match after splitting a pair of matches this weekend with a 0-1 loss to Central Oklahoma and win against then No. 21 Northeastern State.

• MWSU is led in scoring by Cassidy Menke with 11 points off of five goals and one assist. Page Labadie is the Griffons primary GK with a GAA of 1.25 and 24 saves.



Scouting Report: Northwest Missouri State

•  Northwest enters its 13th season under Tracy Hoza.

• The Bearcats were tabbed 12th in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll after posting a 4-10-3 record last season.

• Northwest is 4-8-1 heading into this weekends matchup after dropping its last four matches. 

• Northwest is led in scoring by Izzy Romano with 11 points off of three goals and five assist. Ashley Malloy is the primary goalkeeper for the Bearcats posting a GAA of 1.43 and 43 saves.

  About head coach Chris Jones

• Chris Jones is 13-14-6  in his second season at Washburn and is only the second coach in the program's history since 2003.

• Prior to taking the head coaching role at Washburn, Jones  was an assistant coach at Fort Hays State where the Tigers went 20-13-5 coaching 11 All-MIAA picks.

• Prior to joining the Tigers, he was president and coach of the University of Oklahoma's men's club team.

 Washburn soccer history

• Washburn is 103-128-38 (.455) all-time entering its 14th season of action. 

• In MIAA play, the Ichabods are 66-83-23 (.451). 

• In home matches, the Ichabods are 55-52-17(.512).

• On the road, the Ichabods are 42-69-17 (.395).

• In matches on neutral sites, the Ichabods are 7-9-4 (.450).

• The Washburn women's soccer team will return to Yager Stadium for a Senior Night showdown with Emporia State Oct. 28 at 6 p.m.
