Ichabods Blanked in Final Match of Roadtrip

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Washburn women's soccer team wasn't able to get into an offensive groove in a 1-0 loss to No. 23 Northeastern State Sunday afternoon at Deloache Field.

The RiverHawks took an early lead under four minutes into the match when Alexis Carson hit the back of the net from the right side of the field off of a free-kick. The assist was credited to Mikayla Carlson.

The Ichabods would never recover from the early goal and eventually earn its second loss of the weekend. NSU outshot the Ichabods 22-4 overall and 9-2 in shots on goal.

Kaitlin Minnich played every minute in goal for the Ichabods recording 8 saves on 22 shots faced. Rebecca Weimer, Kelly Schunk, Emily Stauffer, and Paige Swanson each recorded one for the Ichabods. NSU remains undefeated improving to 10-0-0 on the season and Washburn falls to 5-4-1.

Up next, Washburn will return to the friendly confines of Yager Stadium for a four match home stand beginning with Missouri Southern on Oct. 7 at 6 p.m.
