Washburn Soccer Primed for Rematch With Central Missouri

 Headlines

• Washburn Soccer makes its second appearance in the post season under head coach Chris Jones when it visits No. 2 seed Central Missouri for the opening round of the MIAA Tournament.

• This match is a rematch of last seasons first round matchup in the MIAA Tournament when the Ichabods fell to the Jennies in a 1-2 decision.

 Last time out

• Washburn closed out its regular season with a pair of losses at home and on the road.

• Washburn fell 0-1 on Senior Night to conference rival Emporia State after being unable to rebound from an early goal by the Hornets. 

• Fort Hays State handed Washburn a 0-3  loss  on Sunday after scoring three second period goals.

• The Ichabods faced Central Missouri earlier this season on Oct. 16 and were dealt a  0-3 loss and its first home loss of the season.

'Bod's and Ends

•    Morgan El-Attrache is the Ichabods'  leading scorer thus far into the season with 11 points off of four goals and three assist.

•    Morgan El-Attrache also leads Washburn in the assist category with three.  

•  Kaitlin Minnich is the Ichabods primary goalkeeper with a GAA of 1.05 and 68 saves. Minnich has allowed 16 goals this season on 172 shots faced.

The Second Coming

 • The Ichabods have made three appearances in the MIAA tournament with last year and this current  year being its first back-to-back appearances in program history.

• The last time the Ichabods were in the MIAA tournament was on Nov. 4, 2015 when Washburn traveled to Warrensburg, Mo. to take on Central Missouri:

WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabod soccer team had its season come to an end in a 2-1 loss to No. 9-ranked Central Missouri in the MIAA Tournament quarterfinals. Washburn ends its season 5-9-5.

The Jennies led 2-0 at the break after scoring goals in the 15th and 26th minutes outshooting the Ichabods 7 to 1 in the first half.

Bailey Wobig put the Ichabosd on the board with her second goal of the season of an assist by Whitney Skinner in the 63rd minute. It was Wobig's seventh of her career and the assist was Skinner's third of her career.

Kaitlin Minnich recorded 10 saves in the match facing 21 shots.

Overall the Jennies (17-2-0) had a 21 to 4 shot advantage and a 12 to 4 advantage in shots on goal.

Rachel Kulhanek, Paige Swanson, Sara Specht and Wobig all had shots on goal for the Ichabods.

 Spreading the Wealth

• 13 different Ichabods have scored goals this season and 20 have taken shots over the course of the season.

Record Watch

• If the season were to end today Cadence Bourne would be fourth all-time in minutes played with 5,834.

• Bourne would also be 9th all time in games started with 65 

Morgan El-Attrache is tied for 10th place all-time in match-winning goals with three.

Kaitlin Minnich is second all-time in goalie minutes played with 1,828.

Scouting Report : Central Missouri

• Central Missouri enters its 10th season under head coach Lewis Theobald.

• UCM entered this season tabbed 1st in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll after earning its sixth consecutive MIAA regular season title and fifth in the NSCAA presseason poll

• UCM is 16-1 going into this weekends match after winning a pair of matches this weekend over Lindenwood (2-0) and Missouri Western (6-1).

• The Jennies are led in scoring by Jada Scott with 33 points off of 14 goals and 5 assist. Ana Dilkes is the UCM primary GK with a GAA of .12 and 67 saves.

About head coach Chris Jones

•    Chris Jones is 14-17-6  in his second season at Washburn and is only the second coach in the program's history since 2003.

•    Prior to taking the head coaching role at Washburn, Jones  was an assistant coach at Fort Hays State where the Tigers went 20-13-5 coaching 11 All-MIAA picks.

•    Prior to joining the Tigers, he was president and coach of the University of Oklahoma's men's club team.

• Washburn is 104-131-38 (.450) all-time entering its 14th season of action. 

• In MIAA play, the Ichabods are 67-86-23 (.446). 

• In home matches, the Ichabods are 55-53-17(.508).
