WARRENSBURG, Mo.— In the longest match in program history lasting approximately five hours and crossing into the next day the Ichabods weren't able to fend off nationally ranked Central Missouri and were dealt a 4-0 loss in the opening round of the MIAA tournament.
Although they were outshot 14-6 in the first frame, Washburn put up a strong defensive showing in the first period, holding the Jennies scoreless and heading into the break scoreless.
Central Missouri got off to a strong start at the beginning of the second half scoring its first goal inside the 53
rd minute after Baylie Edwards shot the ball from the right side the box and it was deflected into the back of the net. Minutes later with 36:56 to play officials put a weather delay into effect that would last three hours.
Once the slow moving storm rolled out of the area after dumping several inches of rain action resumed. Central Missouri picked up where it left off scoring three more goals starting with its second of the night inside the 69
th minute after Megan Woolley netted one from the left side of the field with the assist credited to Edwards. Emily Griffin scored the third goal of the night inside the 80
th minute and Megan Woolley netted her second goal and the final goal of the match with 22 seconds left on the clock.
Washburn was led by
Kelsi Smith with three shots all of which were on goal.

Kaitlin Minnich played every minute in goal for Washburn posting 11 saves for her 8
th match this season with five or more saves.
The Ichabods close out the 2016 season with a 9-9-1 record. Central Missouri advances to the semifinals of the MIAA Tournament where it will face Lindenwood on Friday.
