ST. CHARLES, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabod men's basketball team gutted out a 59-57 win at Lindenwood on Saturday sweeping its second-straight season series in the process. Washburn returns to action on Wednesday when they will host Northeastern State.
Washburn took the lead with 25 seconds left on a 
Randall Smith layup forcing a timeout by the Lions. A 3-point attempt by the Lions at the buzzer missed after an inbounds pass as the Ichabods improved to 14-9 and 10-8 in the MIAA.
The Ichabods would lead by as many as eight in the first half at 16-8 after a jumper by 
Christian Ulsaker who scored nine in the opening half. The Lions never led in the first half, but tied the score at 23 on a jumper before the break.
Washburn was 9 of 23 in the first half while the Lions were 8 of 24. Washburn was 2 of 6 from the 3-point line while the Lions were 1 of 9.
Ulsaker led the Ichabods with 15 points on 6 of 8 shooting and Smith finished with 12. 
Brady Skeens had nine points and six rebounds and recorded two blocks breaking the Ichabod single-season record giving him 53 on the season.
Cory Arentsen led the Lions with a game-high 33 points scoring 24 in the second half. 
Washburn finished 25 of 48 from the field and 16 of 25 in the second half hitting 64 percent from the field. 
The game featured 12 ties and 12 lead changes.
