TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabod season came to an end with a 70-54 loss on Tuesday night in Lee Arena in the first round of the MIAA Tournament. Washburn finishes the record with a 15-13 mark finishing in a tie for fifth in the MIAA standings.
The Ichabods trailed 28-17 at the break behind a cold first half shooting for the Ichabods as Washburn was 3 of 19 from the field going 0 of 6 from 3-point range while the Griffons were 32 percent connecting on 9 of 28 from the field. Washburn did hit 11 of 15 free throws in the first stanza.
In the second half the Griffons would go on to lead by as many as 21 as Missouri Western advances to face Missouri Southern in the MIAA Tournament quarterfinals.
Tyas Martin led the Ichabods with 13 points while
Brady Skeens recorded his 10th double double of the season with 10 points and 18 rebounds which pushed him to average a double double for the season with 10.4 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.
Washburn outrebounded the Griffons 39 to 36 in the game, however 17 turnovers turned into 25 points for the Griffons.
