TOPEKA, Kan. -- The No. 25-ranked Washburn Ichabod men's tennis team lost a heartbreaker to No. 24-ranked Southeastern Oklahoma State in a 5-4 loss at Genesis Tennis Center on Thursday afternoon. Washburn is back in MIAA play at Lindenwood on Saturday.

The Ichabods trailed 2-1 after doubles with Alejandro Valarezo Plaza and Blake Hunter won their match over Maksim Fil and Netanel Alcabas 9-7. At No. 2 doubles Matt Barlow and Zach Hampton fell 9-7 to Alberto Blesa and Tiago Ferreira. The third doubles match went to the Storm 9-8 with 7-3 in the tiebreaker as Trey Horton and Will Agritelley fell to Petar Popovic and Mislav Colak.

In singles, Washburn won the top three singles flights with Valarezo Plaza beating Fil 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Barlow defeated Alcabas 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Hunter topped Blesa 6-0, 6-3. The Storm (7-0) picked up wins at singles spots four through six for the win.

Washburn falls to 8-3 on the season.
