SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- The Washburn Ichabod women's tennis team rolled to an 8-1 win over Illinois Springfield. The Ichabods will be back in action on Sunday when they will host McPherson at 1 p.m. at the Washburn Tennis Complex.

Washburn was up 3-0 after doubles after Jodie Blackim and Ally Burr topped Jane Carter and Sharon Danquah 8-6 at No. 1 doubles. Gwen Shepler and Maggie Plum beat Danielle Mendoza and Jasmin Morgan 8-2 at No. 2 doubles and the Ichabods picked up a default win at No. 3 doubles as the Prairie Stars had only five players in the line up.

Blackim beat Danquah 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 singles and Plum defeated Morgan 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. At No. 4 singles, Whitney Holloman topped Mendoza 6-1, 4-6, 10-6 and Jennifer Krause blanked Katelyn Michl 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles and Shepler won her match at No. 6 singles my default.
