TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabods took a 3-0 lead after doubles and did not look back in an 8-1 win over McPherson on Sunday at the Washburn Tennis Complex. The Ichabods return to MIAA play on Tuesday when they will host Nebraska-Kearney.

The Ichabods dropped only nine games in doubles action after Jodie Blackim and Ally Burr topped Zoe Bouwmeester and Nikki Vorhees 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. Maggie Plum and Gwen Shepler topped Nikki Thornburg and Nadine Baquiran 8-2 at No. 2 doubles and MaKenna Gonzales and Laura Shkembi beat Lea Striegel and Deiah Curtis 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.

Washburn won 5 of 6 singles matches as Shkembi, Blackim, Plum, Jennifer Krause and Shepler all picked up wins for the Ichabods.
