TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabod women's tennis team swept Fort Hays State winning 9-0 on Saturday at the Washburn Tennis Complex. The Ichabods return to action on Tuesday when they will host Rockhurst at noon.

After doubles, the Ichabods jumped out to a 3-0 lead while they dropped only four games. Ally Burr and Jodie Blackim won their match at No. 1 doubles 8-2 and Maggie Plum and Gwen Shepler won their match at No. 2 doubles 8-1. At No. 3 doubles, MaKenna Gonzales and Laura Shkembi picked up an 8-1 win.

In singles, the Ichabods won five of the six matches in straight sets and used a super breaker at No. 1 singles solidifying the 9-0 win. Shkembi won her match with a 10-8 super tiebreaker at No. 1 singles while Blackim, Plum, Whitney Holloman, Holly Johnston and Shepler all rolled to straight set wins.
