Ichabods Hit the Trifecta with Three Matches This Week

 Headlines

• The Washburn Ichabods will face Emporia State in a mid-week match before heading home to Yager Stadium for a two match homestand against Fort Hays State and Nebraska-Kearney.

 Last time out

• Washburn defeated Nebraska-Kearney Sept. 18 with two quick shots shortly after the start of the second half.

• Morgan El-Attrache put the Ichabods on the board hitting the back of the net off a  25-foot penalty kick. Emily Stauffer scored her third goal of the season from the left wing off of a pass from Ellie Karloff.

 'Bod's and Ends

• Emily Stauffer is the Ichabods'  leading scorer thus far into the season with seven points off of three goals and one assist.

• Ellie Karloff is now tied with Morgan El-Attrache to lead Washburn in the assist category with two assist. 

•  Kaitlin Minnich and Riley Boomer split time in goal for the the Ichabods. With a combined GAA of 0.80 and 10 saves.

•  The Ichabods have now won three consecutive matches.The last time Washburn won three consecutive matches was in 2013 when they won matches over Northwest Missouri, Lindenwood, and Missouri Western.

 For Starters

 • The Ichabods have eight starters returning this season four of which earned spots on All-MIAA teams, Cadence Bourne (second team), Paige Swanson (third team),  Rebecca Weimer (honorable mention) and Kaitlin Minnich ( honorable mention).

 Spreading the Wealth

• Six different Ichabods have scored goals this season and 16 have taken shots over the course of the season.

• The Ichabods scored 14 points in its home opener over Northwestern Oklahoma State for the third time in program history. Eight different players scored points during the match.

 Record Watch

• If the season were to end today Olivia Stovall would be tied for fourth all-time in single game assist with two.

• If the season were to end today Kaitlin Minnich would be second all-time in goals against average with an average of 0.81.

 Keleher Scores Big

• Michelle Keleher earned her first career weekly award Sept. 13 after her performance in the Ichabods back-to-back shutouts over win over Northwestern Oklahoma and Newman. 

• Keleher scored her first career goal in the 29th minute of the Ichabods 5-0 win over Northwestern Oklahoma.

 Scouting Report : Emporia State

• Emporia State enters its sixth season under head coach Bryan Sailer.

• The Hornets entered this season tabbed 9th in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll after finishing last season with a 9-8-1 overall record.

•  Emporia State is currently 2-2-1 heading into the match.

• The Hornets return all-MIAA honorable mention goalkeeper Yadira Rivera, all-MIAA third team defender Jaide Allenbrand, and all-MIAA honorable mention midfielder Maria Walden. 

Scouting Report: Fort Hays State

•  Fort Hays State enters its sixth season under Craig Shaw.

• The Tigers are 4-1-1 going into this weekends match and ranked 16th    nationally.

• FHSU was tabbed fourth in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll after posting a 11-8-1 record last season.

• Fort Hays State returns six  all-MIAA selections from last season which include three defenders, one goalkeeper, one forward and one midfielder. 

Scouting Report: Nebraska-Kearney

• UNK is in its sixth season under John Maessner.

• The Lopers are 2-3-1 heading into this match after falling 2-1 to the Ichabods on Sunday.

•The Lopers were picked seventh in the MIAA coaches preseason poll after posting a 4-5-2 record last season.

  About head coach Chris Jones

• Chris Jones is 8-11-5  entering his second season at Washburn and is only the second coach in the program's history since 2003.

• Prior to taking the head coaching role at Washburn, Jones  was an assistant coach at Fort Hays State where the Tigers went 20-13-5 coaching 11 All-MIAA picks.

• Prior to joining the Tigers, he was president and coach of the University of Oklahoma's men's club team.

 Washburn soccer history

• Washburn is 97-125-37 (.447) all-time entering its 14th season of action. 

• In MIAA play, the Ichabods are 62-78-23 (.451). 

• In home matches, the Ichabods are 49-51-17(.491).

• On the road, the Ichabods are 42-67-16 (.400).

• In matches on neutral sites, the Ichabods are 7-9-4 (.450). 

 Up next

• The Washburn women's soccer team will kick-off conference play when it heads to Oklahoma for road games against Central Oklahoma Sept. 30 and Northeastern State Oct. 2.
