Ichabod Soccer Set to Host Northwestern Oklahoma State in Home Opener

 Opening Notes
•     The Washburn Ichabods will host Northwestern Oklahoma State on Sept. 9 at 6 p.m.
•    The Ichabods are coming off of a pair of road losses at the SMSU Mustang Classic against Upper Iowa and Southwest Minnesota.
•    Washburn's last win in a home opener was on Sept. 14, 2012 in a 1-0 win over Emporia State.
•    Washburn women's soccer is 5-7-1 all-time in home openers.

 'Bod's and Ends
•    Olivia Grasso is the Ichabods'  leading scorer thus far into the season with 2 points off of one goal.
•    Morgan El-Attrache leads Washburn in the assist category with her lone assist coming in the season opener against Upper Iowa.
•  Kaitlin Minnich and Riley Boomer split time in goal for the the Ichabods. With a combined GAA of 1.50 and seven saves.
•  Cadence Bourne looks to end her career at Washburn on a high note after starting all 19 games  last season at defender.
•   The Ichabods have 12 upperclassmen on this season's roster led by three experienced seniors in Bourne, Michelle Keleher and Sophia Sabala who have seen action in 153 combined matches.

 For Starters
 •  The Ichabods have eight starters returning this season four of which earned spots on All-MIAA teams, Cadence Bourne (second team), Paige Swanson (third team),  Rebecca Weimer (honorable mention) and Kaitlin Minnich ( honorable mention).

 Record Watch
Cadence Bourne has played 4,835 minutes ranking 9th all-time at Washburn. She is set to get to 8th all-time in the next couple of matches.

 Scouting the Rangers
•    Northwestern Oklahoma St. enters its second season under head coach Craig Liddell.
•  The Rangers entered this season ranked 7th in the GAC Preseason Coaches Poll after finishing last season with a 2-14-1 overall record.
•  The Rangers are currently 0-2-1 heading into the match.
•  Northwestern Oklahoma returns a roster with nine seniors including All-Conference selection Cydni Phelps.

• These two teams have never met on the pitch.

 About head coach Chris Jones
•    Chris Jones is 5-11-5  entering his second season at Washburn and is only the second coach in the program's history since 2003.
•    Prior to taking the head coaching role at Washburn, Jones  was an assistant coach at Fort Hays State where the Tigers went 20-13-5 coaching 11 All-MIAA picks.
•    Prior to joining the Tigers, he was president and coach of the University of Oklahoma's men's club team.

• Washburn is 95-125-37 (.443) all-time entering its 14th season of action.
• In MIAA play, the Ichabods are 62-78-23 (.451).
• In home matches, the Ichabods are 48-49-17(.514).
• On the road, the Ichabods are 40-67-16 (.390).
• In matches on neutral sites, the Ichabods are 7-9-4 (.450).

•    The Washburn women's soccer team will next hit the road for three consecutive matches.
•  The Ichabods will face Newman on Sept. 11 before kicking off MIAA play on Sept. 16 at Emporia State followed by Nebraska-Kearney on Sept. 18.
