10/10/2017 1:32:00 PM

The Washburn women's soccer team is now in the midst of its third multi-match winning streak of the season, defeating Missouri Southern State University and Southwest Baptist University this past week.

On Friday against MSSU, Ellie Karloff scored her team-leading fifth goal in the 42nd minute in a scoreless match up to that point, with the just the second shot attempt of the night for the Ichabods. The win wiped out the Ichabods' two match losing streak they had at the time.

Tera Lynch added a team-high four shots, and Whitney Bockover recorded a shot on goal.

In the 90th minute, Minnich was able to save a Taylor LePage shot that would have tied the game at 1-1.

On Sunday against SBU, the Bearcats struck first with a goal by Reagan Edwards opening things up in just the fourth minute. The score remained 1-0 in favor of SBU until halftime, as the Ichabods were held to just one shot, zero on goal.

It only took 6:46 into the second half for Paige Swanson to come up with the equalizer for the Ichabods. Less than five minutes after Swanson's goal, Mackenzie Heiman scored her first goal of the season to the put the Ichabods up for the first time in the match.

In the 69th minute, Emily Stauffer scored her second goal of the year to widen the margin to 3-1. The Ichabods converted on all three shots on goal for the game, and the other four shots on goal for the Bearcats were saved by goalkeeper Kaitlin Minnich.

With the win, the Ichabods move to 7-4-1 on the season, 3-2-0 in the MIAA.

The Ichabodswill look to increase the win streak to three in a row against Lindenwood University Friday, before getting a chance to upset  the top-ranked University of Central Missouri Sunday.
