TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn women's soccer team suffered its' second loss in a row after falling to Missouri Western State University Friday, 1-0.
The Ichabods were shut out for the second time this season at the hands of the now 13-2-0 Griffons of Missouri Western. Bridget Blessie scored the lone goal of the match in the 13th minute, off of a free kick by Madeline Cowell.
The Ichabods had a tough time getting shots off, totaling six for the entire match.
Olivia Grasso and
Paige Swanson had the only two shots on goal for Washburn in the match, Grasso's in the 17th minute and Swanson's in the 63rd minute.
The defense for the Ichabods was stout, save for the goal. The Griffons had eight shots on goal, just two of them on goal. The Ichabods and Griffons were even on corner kicks for the match with six apiece.
The 8-6-1 (4-4-0) Ichabods will look to get back on the winning track Sunday, as they take on the Bearcats of Northwest Missouri State University. The Bearcats took down Emporia State University Friday by the score of 1-0. The game will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, at Yager Stadium.
