Box Score EMPORIA, Kan. -- The Washburn women's soccer team was shut out for the third time this season in a 3-0 loss to Emporia State University Friday.
Â
The Ichabods outshot the Hornets 17-11 for the match, but the Hornets were efficient with their shots, as all 11 of their shots were on goal.
Â
After a slow start where only one shot was taken in the first 12:16 of the match, the Hornets started the scoring in the 15th minute, as Olivia Miller put one past goalkeeper
Kaitlin Minnich to take a 1-0 lead.
Â
The Ichabods had many opportunities to score the equalizer in the first half, but had two shots blocked and another four saved by ESU goalkeeper Bethany Reeves.
Â
The Hornets found a groove offensively in the second half after taking just two shots in the first. Two of ESU's nine shots found the back of the net, as Ashton Taylor scored in the 62nd minute and Kennedy Hoffman added the final blow in the 88th minute.
