Box Score BOLIVAR, Mo. -- The Washburn women's soccer team scored a season-high three goals en route to a 3-1 victory over Southwest Baptist University Sunday.
The Bearcats struck first, with a goal by Reagan Edwards opening things up in just the fourth minute. The score remained 1-0 in favor of SBU until halftime, as the Ichabods were held to just one shot, zero on goal.
It only took 6:46 into the second half for
Paige Swanson to come up with the equalizer for the Ichabods. Less than five minutes after Swanson's goal,
Mackenzie Heiman scored her first goal of the season to the put the Ichabods up for the first time in the match.
In the 69th minute,
Emily Stauffer scored her second goal of the year to widen the margin to 3-1. The Ichabods converted on all three shots on goal for the game, and the other four shots on goal for the Bearcats were saved by goalkeeper
Kaitlin Minnich.
With the win, the Ichabods move to 7-4-1 on the season, 3-2-0 in the MIAA. This is the third multi-match win streak for Washburn this season.
The Ichabods will take the field again at 7 p.m. Friday, as they will head to St. Charles, Missouri, to take on Lindenwood University. The Lions are 4-7-1 this season after tying with the University of Central Oklahoma Friday, 2-2.
