GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas --- Powered by fantastic season debut by pitcher
Jacob Head, the Washburn Ichabod baseball team bounced back after its loss a day earlier to blank East Central, 3-0, and wrap up its Texas trip.

Washburn (3-1) tallied its first run in the third as a throwing error by the ECU shortstop was off the mark allowing
Darian Abram to reach base with two outs and
Cole Gardner to score.

The game held at 1-0 until the eighth. After reaching on a hard hit single to left and moving to second on a stolen base
Bowe Behymer was eventually pushed across home with an RBI single from
Riley Krane to make it 2-0.

Josh Crosby then capped the scoring at 3-0 in the ninth after getting on base with a double down the left field line. It was pinch-hitter
JB Eary who drove Crosby home thanks to a hard hit up the middle.

The highlight of the day though came from the mound as Head tossed eight scoreless innings en route to be credited with the win. The sophomore left-hander worked efficiently turning away 21 of 28 batters either by groundout or fly out. Head surrendered just four hits and one walk while striking out two before
Marcus McKinney came in to collect his third save of the season.

Collectively, Washburn scored three runs on six hits while committing no errors and leaving just four runners on base.

The Ichabods return to action on Thursday, Feb. 10 with a single game rematch against Southern Arkansas in Monticello, Arkansas before facing Monticello-Arkansas on Friday and Saturday.
