Ichabods Roll by Lindenwood

ST. CHARLES, Mo. --- The 35th-ranked Washburn men's tennis team added one more win to a two-match win streak when it knocked off conference foe Lindenwood 7-2.

The surging Ichabods created distance early on in the match after sweeping doubles play by picking up wins on all three courts. Alejandro Valarezo and Blake Hunter kicked things off, pairing up for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles. Matt Barlow and Tommy Hunter knocked off a pair of Lion netters 8-4, before Paul Haase and Chase Brill completed the trifecta with an 8-2 win at the three spot.

Matt Barlow kept the momentum rolling after notching a win at No. 3 singles over Theo Butaeye in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.

Tommy Hunter got back on track knocking off Michele Gaspari 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4 singles and clinch the match for Washburn.

Lindenwood prevailed in a pair of close matches at No. 1 and No. 2 singles to pick up its only points of the match. Blake Hunter was defeated in three 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 by Naoufal El Lorissi and Valarezo lost 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 to Filip Bogic.

Haase posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles followed by a win by Brill over Jesus Leal 6-0, 6-2 to close out the match.

Washburn will try to complete the perfect road trip when it travels to Bolivar, Mo. to take one No. 20 Southwest Baptist tomorrow afternoon. First serve is slate for noon.
