TOPEKA, Kan. – The 35th-ranked Washurn men's tennis team captured its 11th win of the season in a lopsided 8-1 win over No. 44 Missouri-St. Louis.

After sweeping all three doubles courts, UMSL could do little to slow down the Ichabods as they notched wins at five of six singles positions.  Alejandro Valarezo and Blake Hunter showed why they are regionally ranked at No. 2 when they rolled past a pair of USML netters 8-5 at No. 1 doubles. Paul Haase and Chase Brill continued the trend with an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles, followed by a 9-8 (7-4) win at No. 2 doubles by Matt Barlow and Tommy Hunter to complete the sweep.

With a 3-0 advantage the Ichabods stayed on course with a win by Blake Hunter at No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-2.

MIAA Player of the Week, Matt Barlow, secured court three in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.

No. 31 Valarezo ousted a Tritons netter in straight sets 6-0, 7-6 before Paul Haase stole court five in a 6-1,6-1 decision.

Chase Bril defeated a Triton netter at No. 6 singles 3-6, 6-3, 10-3 and Tommy Hunter was defeated at No. 5 singles 6-4, 7-6 (9-7).

The Ichabods improve to 11-3 on the season and will return to action on Sunday at Rockhurst.
