TOPEKA, Kan. --- The Ichabod men's tennis team extended it win streak to five matches as it rolled to a 7-2 win over Newman University Saturday afternoon.
After picking up all three doubles points the Ichabods carried its momentum into singles play where Washburn won 4 of 6 courts.
Chase Brill and
Paul Haase kicked things off with an 8-4 win over Felipe Batistella and Diego Rojo of Newman.
Matt Barlow and
Tommy Hunter paired up for an 8-6 victory over Enrique Corras and Lucas Corbiato.
Blake Hunter and
Alejandro Valarezo downed Eduardo Santos and Alejandro Gonzalez 8-4 to cement an Ichabod 3-0 lead heading into singles.
Paul Haase would once again be the first Ichabod to notch a singles win after finishing off Lucas Norbiato 6-2, 6-1.
Tommy Hunter would be outlasted at No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-3 before
Matt Barlow would clinch the second match in a row for Washburn with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Batistella.
Blake Hunter would fall in three to Gonzalez 6-4, 2-6, 10-7 before Brill picked up his third straight win in a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Crawford.
Valarezo closed out the match for Washburn in a comeback win at No. 1 singles over Santos 6-4, 3-6, 10-8.
The Ichabods will return to action on March 7 when its visits Northwest Missouri to open MIAA action.
